I wanted to share a few of my thoughts on AI and some important considerations when using it in your marketing efforts.

I’ve been using AI in my own business in Ben Skinner Creative for a while now, and in this blog I wanted to just share a few things I’ve learnt.

First, it’s important to understand that AI isn’t a magic wand—you can’t just type in a few words and expect it to revolutionize your marketing straight away. Like any tool, it requires strategy, effort, and a bit of trial and error to make it work effectively for what you want.

From my experience, there are a few key points to keep in mind when working with AI tools:

1. Iteration is Key: You may need to re-run the same prompt multiple times to get closer to the output you’re looking for. AI isn’t perfect, and small tweaks in phrasing can sometimes make a big difference in the quality of the response.

2. Be Specific: The clearer and more detailed your instructions, the better the results. Rehearse your prompts and refine them as needed so the AI can pinpoint exactly what you’re asking for. Think of it as working with an actual person – you need to guide the tool effectively to get the most out of it.

3. Always Verify Data: AI tools are powerful, but they’re not infallible. They can sometimes present inaccurate or incomplete information, so it’s crucial to double-check any data they provide and do your own research to confirm accuracy.

That being said, AI is still a fantastic resource, especially when it comes to automation and handling administrative tasks. In my business, I use AI tools to simplify repetitive processes, like adding up project timesheets for clients or drafting quick content ideas for research purposes. It’s incredibly helpful when I need a rough starting point or a quick way to brainstorm ideas.

AI isn’t here to replace creativity or human decision-making, but it’s a powerful assistant that can save you time and help you focus on the aspects of marketing that really matter – strategy, connection, and storytelling.
